6. September – 23. November 2014
Artists as Ethnographers, based on the research project Un patrimoine revisité (2011/12) in Leytron, shows the objects created and issues arising in the context of this project. The work of artists as researchers in the field of local history, ethnography and local colour bring to light found artefacts and works that supplement the work of historians or social anthropologists. Due to the different expectations, visual ideas and approaches, elements of ethnography and the art mutually challenge each other.
The exhibition is complemented by historical and ethnographic objects from the Valais Museum collections. In the coming exhibition sections, local ethnographic museums in the canton of Bern are also involved, such as the Swiss Woodcarving Museum Brienz or the Thun Flechtmuseum.
